My job has begun. I work on the website and so far it has been pretty good. What I love most about East-West ministries are the people. Everybody is extremely dedicated and they love being there to serve others. My boss is a Starbucks addict, which subsequently increases my level of caffeine intake. I get to read stories all day about people becoming Christians all over the world and it blows your mind what some of the these people have been through. Another neat thing is that missionaries will stop in a for a few days and fill you in on what is happening where they are working. So far I’ve met incredible people that serve in Russia, Albania, Haiti, Kenya and Myanmar. Sweet deal. If any of you are looking for a ministry to support, this is a quality one.

I like to read. With that said, I think I will like seminary. I have 22 required books for fall semester and word on the street is that you read through every single one…
Today I…
Freaked out at a toll booth for not having the change I needed.
Drank coffee at work to keep warm while staring at a computer screen.
Made a new friend at lunch.
Received a package.
Bought questionable food from Big Lots.
Made a collage for one of my many white walls.
Saw the skyline from floor 7 (picture taken from a different area…but you get the idea).
Read by the pool.
Was and still am trying to wrap my head around one great verse…”as unknown, and yet well-known; as dying and yet – see! – we continue to live; as those who are scourged and yet not executed; as sorrowful, but always rejoicing, as poor, but making many rich, as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.” 2nd Corinthians 4:9-10
The title is for Allison.
So…I’m here, I’m unpacked and I’m finally getting adjusted to the big D. The last week has been quite eventful as I’ve been starting a new job, meeting new people and gradually awaiting the time until school starts. I’ve begun reading the book “Let the Nations be Glad” by Piper, which technically may mean I’ve already started school.
I really like DTS (Dallas Theological Seminary). I haven’t been around campus (the whole block it is) much, but my apartment is pretty nice – minus the basketball court above me. The people are very friendly and yesterday my friend, Will, was out in the pool with his kayak. I miss the RIT folk, and DTS now allows Skype…just saying…
My job is quite amazing. I’m doing web development for a missions organization called East-West ministries. They have missionaries all over the world and they pop in and out of the office quite frequently. Also, everyone watches Lost on Wednesdays during lunch. They are starting from season one so I won’t be completely lost. (couldn’t think of a better word).
On Sunday, I got to pick from the vast amount of churches down here. I went to Northwest Bible Church, which happens to be one of the very first I found when I was looking way back in spring. It was a good sermon by a DTS professor. Next week, I’m going to try and smaller church (500ppl) called Reunion, which focuses on bringing together people from different cultures around the community (http://www.reunionchurch.org/).
The rest of the week has been filled with occasional episodes of The Office, a mewithoutyou concert in Deep Ellum, a birthday party on the top of the W (a fancy high rise hotel), and getting stuck in traffic. I would appreciate prayers for developing friendships. Being the new person is always uncomfortable, but that’s okay, and it’s good to be put there.
